Confidence allows us to reach goals and face challenges that we otherwise would not have the courage to face. You could be applying for a new job, asking for a raise, or speaking to your peers. Confidence is prevalent in all of these tasks.
But what about when you need confidence? 18-07 is here to help!We will be sharing 3 ways to help increase your confidence so you can take one step closer to your dreams, whatever they may be.
- Quick Fixes: We get it, you want easy solutions. Well, these are immediate things you can do to boost your confidence. For instance, try picturing yourself accomplishing your goal before you start a challenging task, posing powerfully, or even listening to songs with heavy bass. These simple tricks can help increase your self-esteem in the short term.
- “I Can Always Improve” Mindset: How you view your talents and yourself may be getting in your way. Viewing things as predetermined (whether that be genes or the way you see them) can stop you from getting better. Most skills are like a muscle. You most likely won’t be able to lift the heaviest weight when you start. Although, with some practice, you will get there. Most skills are not fixed things that you are good or bad at. You can always grow. Science even supports that people with a growth mindset, “I can get better.”, tend to be smarter, happier, and more successful.
- Be Okay With Failure: The expression try, try, and try again comes to mind. No one is perfect, and we can not win every time. Those who try and fail often, are more likely to develop ways to view those failures as a learning moment. My father used to say, “Failure is your greatest teacher.” Forexample, J.K. Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers before someone picked up Harry Potter. Failure teaches you how to handle adversity and makes you more comfortable under stress. Keep trying!
You may not have control over your genes or how others treat you, but you control the decisions/choices you make! Now, think of a goal/dream you want to achieve. I know you can do it. You got this!
